Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

The "Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act" was amended and came into effect on March 22, 2023. The revisions related to all educational institutions include the following:

1. A comprehensive ban on all tobacco-like products (including ecigarettes) and other designated tobacco products (including heated tobacco products).

2. The legal smoking age has been raised to 20 years old. Violators must undergo smoking cessation education.

3. Colleges and universities are designated as smoke-free areas. Schools must post no-smoking signs and maintain a smoke-free environment. Smoking in prohibited areas can be stopped by others present at the scene.

To protect the health and well-being of all staff and students, let's work together on campus tobacco control! Colleges and universities are smokefree areas. Anyone who smokes in these areas may be stopped by others, and incidents can also be reported to nearby staff. Local health authorities will conduct inspections, and those caught smoking in prohibited areas will face fines ranging from NT$2,000 to NT$10,000. We ask for the cooperation of all staff and students to help create a smoke-free campus.

If you wish to quit smoking, please contact Nurse Ni at Health Services of the Physical and Mental Health Center by phone: 02-82377423, or call the toll-free smoking cessation hotline: 0800-636363.

Best regards,

NCCU Physical and Mental Health Center
