2. Number of days or hours discounted

Amendments to the Measures for the Implementation of National Defense Education and Military Training Curriculum Reducing the Active Service Period and Military Training Period of Standing Military Service

 

Article 1 These regulations are formulated in accordance with Paragraph 4 of Article 16 of the Military Service Act (hereinafter referred to as this Act) and Article 52 of the Enforcement Act of this Act.

Matters related to the military training courses specified in Paragraph 2 of Article 16 of this Law, which can reduce the active service period of standing military service, shall be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Implementation Measures for Converting the Service Period of Military Training Courses.

Article 2 Male servicemen who are legally recruited to serve in the standing army or for military training, who have studied at a senior secondary school or above and have passed the National Defense Education and Military Training Course, may, in accordance with Paragraph 2 or Paragraph 2 of Article 16 of this Law, There are three provisions for applying for reduced service period or military training period.

The term “senior secondary schools and above” as mentioned in the preceding paragraph refers to senior secondary schools, vocational schools, universities and their equivalent level of further education schools.

The content, subjects, and hours of courses that can be reduced from service or military training periods specified in Paragraph 1 are specified in the attached table.

Article 3 Students who take the all-people national defense education military training course and pass the grade shall be counted as one day for every eight classes according to each academic system, and the active service period or military training period of the standing military service shall be reduced (as noted in the appendix); The period of active service that may be reduced shall not exceed thirty days, and the number of military training hours that may be reduced shall not exceed fifteen days.

The National Defense Education and Military Training Courses of the same academic system can be reduced from standing military service or military training only once. Those who repeat (re)take it or repeat it again for any reason cannot be reduced repeatedly.

Article 4 Those who apply for National Defense Education and Military Training Courses to reduce the period of active service or military training in the standing army should submit the original transcript of the school they attended to the military training unit of the school for review. After verification, the military training supervisor will place a copy in the lower right corner of the transcript After being stamped and indicating the content, hours and discounted days of the national defense education military training course with satisfactory results, the original copy will be returned to the applicant and the copy will be kept by the school; if the school does not have a military training unit or a military training supervisor , handled by the academic affairs unit.

The courses shown on the transcript for which the reduction is applied for in the preceding paragraph shall be consistent with the courses listed in the schedule of Article 2, Paragraph 3.

The first imprint format shall be determined by the Ministry of Education.

Applicants in Paragraph 1 of Article 5 of the preceding Article should submit the original stamped transcript and other relevant supporting documents and apply to the service or training unit for a reduction in the active service period or military training period in accordance with the current standing military service recruitment procedures.

Article 6 The Ministry of Education shall, from time to time, conduct assessments on schools’ handling of national defense education and military training courses and reduction operations related to the reduction of the active duty period of standing military service or the period of military training.

Article 7 The reduction of the alternative service period shall be handled in accordance with the provisions of Article 52 of the Enforcement Act of this Act and the provisions of these Measures.

The number of days reduced from the alternative service period mentioned in the preceding paragraph shall be handled in accordance with the following provisions:

1. For male conscripts born before December 31, 1982, the reduced term of conscription shall not exceed thirty days.

2. For male conscripts born between January 1, 1983, and December 31, 1993, the reduced term of conscription shall not exceed fifteen days.

3. For male conscripts born after January 1, 1994, the reduced term of conscription shall not exceed thirty days.

Article 8 These Measures shall come into effect on the date of promulgation.
