Guidelines for NCCU Dormitory Application for Fall Semester 2015

I.         Application Requirements:

1.        Eligibility: sophomore, junior and senior undergraduate students in the Fall Semester of 2015 (including graduation-delaying seniors with double majors or those who had been exchange students for one year).

2.        Restrictions:

Students whose household registration is in one of the districts listed below are ineligible to apply for a dorm assignment (but they can apply for a place on the waiting list. See Article VI.)

i.                     Zhonghe, Yunghe, Xindian, Banqiao, Shenkeng, Shiding, Sanchong, Luzhou Districts of New Taipei City.

ii.                    All districts of Taipei City.

II.       Household Registration: Applicants should submit the household registration transcript. Applicants are required to reside in an unrestricted area for no less than two years prior to the application deadline (April 17), except for those who relocated together with their entire family to an unrestricted area for less than two years prior to the deadline and can provide the household registration transcript for the entire family which includes parents or legal guardians. Such applicants and students from off-shore islands are required to submit a certified copy of their household registration transcript every year to the Student Housing Service Section for verification before the application deadline (April 17).

    Current dorm residents (except for those applicants whose family relocated to an unrestricted area and students from off-shore islands) who have had their household registration transcript verified for the 2014 Fall semester do not need to resubmit the document.

III.     Priority in assigning dorm rooms:

1.        According to Article 7 of the NCCU Student Dorm Regulations, priority in assigning dorm rooms for the coming year are reserved for those students listed below: those with physical or mental disabilities, those from low-income households, oversea Chinese, foreign students (students of Chinese Language Center and exchange students are not included), residents of off-shore islands, members of the Student Dormitory Self-Governing Organization with two or more semesters of dedicated services, aboriginal students who have resided in an unrestricted area for at least two years prior to the application deadline (April 17), verified low-income household students, outstanding students, students with verified excellent performance in dorm-related public services. Qualified applicants must submit their application before the deadline.

2.        According to Article 9 of the NCCU Student Dorm Regulations, dorm assignments are open to freshmen and sophomore students after priority students are assigned dorm rooms. Freshmen and sophomore applicants are assigned to dorm rooms according to their household registration and demand. If two applicants are equally qualified, the assignment will be decided by drawing lots.

3.        A priority student who renounces his/her privilege can only submit a paper application (no online application) to be placed on a waiting list.

IV.    Application Period: April 13 (Mon), 2015~April 17 (Fri), 2015. Late applications will not be accepted. (Attention! Applicants are required to go to the Student Housing Service Section to register their personal bank account at the First Bank or the Chunghwa Post Company for dorm deposit/ refund and proceed with the online application.) Applicants who are legally restricted from setting up a bank account should go to the Student Housing Service Section to submit a paper application.

V.      Application methods (Please access the NCCU official website through IE 7.0 or above or Firefox instead of Chrome.):

1.        Foreign students: please contact the Office of International Cooperation for an application. Contact person: Ms. Chi, (02) 2939-3091 ext. 62058.

3.        NCCU dormitories are divided into a General Area and a Quiet Area; applicants may choose either. Students who are assigned to the Quiet Area are required to turn off their lights and keep quiet after 23:30. All areas are Quiet Areas except for JhuangJing Dormitory 9 and ZihCiang Dormitory 10. Female dormitories are located in JhuangJing Dormitory 1, 6~9, Floor 1~3 of Building B and D of ZihCiang Dormitory 10. Male dormitories are located in JhuangJing Dormitory 2~5, Floor 1~3 of Building A and C of ZihCiang Dormitory 10. The Student Housing Service Section may adjust dorm arrangements according to the number of applicants, energy conservation & carbon reduction demands, and dorm policy. 4.        Students from low-income households who did not apply for tuition deductions with the Life Guidance& Overseas Chinese Student Advising Section should attach a copy of their low-income certificate issued by the Department of Social Welfare from their city or county of household registration and submit their application in person to the Student Housing Service Section before the deadline (April 17). Late applications will not be accepted.

5.        Students who intend to go abroad for a student exchange program in the Fall Semester of 2015 and return to Taiwan in the Spring Semester of 2016 should apply for a dorm assignment during the application period. If a room is assigned to such applicant, he or she can apply to the Student Housing Service Section for assignment reservation for the Spring Semester of 2016.

6.        Physically disabled students in need of a special room: Please submit your application along with copies of official documents to the Student Housing Service Section for advanced assignment between April 13 (Mon) and April 17 (Fri), 2015.

VI.    Assignment method:

1.        Dorm assignment: Computer-generated random lottery-drawing will be held in the presence of the president of the NCCU Student Association and Student Dormitory Self-Governing Organization members at 14:00 April 23 (Thu), 2015. Dorm rooms will be assigned according to numerical order.


 

2.        Waiting list application:

(I)                  Applicants who are not chosen by the Computer-generated random lottery-drawing will automatically be placed on the non-restricted area waiting list (valid until August 30). After August 30, Students who are on the waiting list from the Spring Semester 2015 and are still qualified for dorm assignment should go to the Student Housing Service Section to submit a paper application between August 31 (Mon) and September 2 (Tue), 2015.

(II)                General graduation-delaying seniors (i.e., those who are not double majors or exchange students for one year), students from restricted areas are required to submit an online application between September 1 (Tue) and September 4 (Fri), 2015.

VII.  Assignment Announcement: Please check the assignment list on the website at 9:00 April 27(Mon), 2015. Path: 政大首頁→iNCCU→校園資訊系統→校務系統WEB版→學生資訊系統→資訊服務→學生住宿申請結果查詢。

VIII.Bed selection and application: the applicants on the assignment list are required to indicate their bed preference online between May 8 (Fri) and May 21 (Thu), 2015. Decisions regarding roommate pairing will be announced periodically. A detailed procedure will be announced later.

1.        Priority will be given to approved applicants from JhuangJing Dormitory 2 and 3Seniors (in fall semester) Juniors (in fall semester) Sophomores (in fall semester). Those who do not indicate their bed preference online will be regarded to have renounced their dorm assignment.

2.        Dormitories are divided into three categories: Exclusive (JhuangJing Dormitory 2 and 3, additional application required), Quiet (JhuangJing Dormitory 1~8), and General areas (JhuangJing Dormitory 9 and ZihCiang Dormitory 10). Please check the floor plan at the service desk in your residence hall.

3.        The moving-in date for the Fall Semester of 2015 is September 1, 2015.

 

IX.    In order to foster a high-quality dormitory culture and develop the Love and Service Student Dorm Life Project, JhuangJing Dormitory 2 and 3 strive to cultivate a quality, healthy and active student dorm life.

1.        Application requirement: male students who are given a dorm assignment and intend to apply for JhuangJing Dormitory 2 and 3. Applicants must abide by the dorm regulations of JhuangJing Dormitory 2 and 3.

2.        Application Period: April 28 (Tue)~ April 29 (Wed), 2015.

3.        Application details will be announced later.

X.      Applicants are required to read and abide by the NCCU Dormitory Counseling and Management Policies. In the event of campus development or a special situation, dorm residents should follow the school’s dorm re-assignment schedule and relocate within the designated timeframe. Beginning in 2014, residents who need to stay in the dorm during the Chinese New Year should move to the dorms specified by the Student Housing Service Section.

XI.    In order to better utilize dorm space and quickly shorten the waiting list, students who choose to give up their dorm assignment should go to the Student Housing Service Section to cancel their assignment as soon as possible. After the assignment is approved, students who choose to give up their dorm assignment should go to the Student Housing Service Section to cancel their assignment. XII.  Dorm residence during summer vacation is not included in this application. Students who want to apply for dorm residence  during summer vacation should file their application online between May 7 (Thu) and May 13 (Wed), 2015.
